A Cibachrome color photograph titled Piotr Taking his AIDS Medicine, Berlin 1996 by well-listed artist Nan Goldin (American, b.1953). In her characteristic style, the work depicts Piotr from a raised perspective with a bright flash and oversaturated colors. Medical tubing filled with red fluid leads from his arm as he holds a syringe in his left hand. Out of focus, a white menorah is framed in the window sill above Piotr. The photographic print is number 6 in an edition of 15. To the verso, the item is titled, dated, signed, and numbered in graphite by the artist. Under a single layer of white mat, the item is presented under acrylic glass in a simple black frame. Goldin is famous for her documentary Cibachrome photographs, often of LGBTQ+ subject matter. The artist has several publications in print. Her works can be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), the Guggenheim (New York), and more.
