Karastan Colonial Williamsburg "Turkish Church" Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A Karastan Colonial Williamsburg Turkish Church power-loomed wool area rug. The rug design replicates an 18th century West Anatolian Transylvania rug featuring an arched rose madder central lozenge field, with filler motifs and brilliant abrashed ocean blue corner spandrels. Surrounding the field, there is a light golden yellow border with turtle motifs inside cartouches, being flanked by dog tooth styled secondary borders in brown, cream and rose madder. The rug is finished with overcast selvage edges and sewn on ecru fringe to two ends, being well marked with an affixed fabric label to the verso.
