Semi-Antique Hand Knotted Persian Nain Area Rug
Item Details
A semi-antique hand knotted Nain area rug. The rug features a central floral pendant medallion in a palette of dust blue, red, ecru, apricot, mint and indigo. The medallion is surrounded by a blue field covered in arabesques of vines, lotus flowers and palmettes in rose, cream, nutmeg, bright blue, indigo and taupe. The spandrels have the soft mint coloring of the medallion, with inverted trefoil elements. It has a compound border of floral and foliate motifs in the same colorway with a primary border of arabesqued vines and lotus flowers. The rug is complete with a fine wool warp fringe to either side. The tag attached reads ‘Made in Iran, Hand Woven’.
