A watercolor and gouache painting on paper of a floral still life by well-listed American artist Edgar Yaeger (1904-1997), created in 1965. This still life features a pitcher of pink and purple flowers against a dark blue background. The paper is signed and dated to the lower left in graphite. Presented under off-white matting and wrapped in acetate.

Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
