An ink drawing on paper titled Still Life with Guitar by well-listed American artist Edgar Yaeger (1904-1997). Portrayed with black delineations, this still life arrangement includes a guitar, bowls of fruit, and flowers set on a side table. The paper is signed to the upper right in graphite. A descriptive label is present to the verso. The work is presented under off-white matting and wrapped in acetate.
Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
