Edgar Yaeger Woodblock on Paper Symmetrical Angels

A signed limited edition woodblock print over a grey and yellow marbled serigraph on paper by well-listed American artist Edgar Yaeger (1904 – 1997), created in 1976. The print depicts a symmetrical pair of angels with stars scattered around them. It is signed and dated by hand in ink to the lower right. The work is presented under off-white matting and wrapped in acetate.
Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
