19th Century Bodhisattva Bust on Wooden Pedestal

Item Details

A bodhisattva bust presented on a wooden pedestal. This piece features the cast iron bust of a bodhisattva, a Buddhist person who could reach nirvana but has instead devoted their life to helping others achieve enlightenment. The bust appears to have at one time been a part of a larger sculpture, and this piece was attached to a metal rod and is presented on a tall wooden pedestal.

Condition

- corrosion and oxidation consistent with age; appears to be missing parts of sculpture on top and verso.
