A gouache and watercolor painting on paper titled Path to Sea by well-listed American artist Edgar Yaeger (Michigan, 1904-1997). The painting depicts a pathway flanked by a rock wall to the left and trees and shrubbery to the right, leading to the sea in the distance. It is signed in graphite to the lower left and a small descriptive label is present to the verso. Presented in white matting and wrapped in acetate.

Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
