An original watercolor painting on paper titled Blooming Forest by well-listed American artist Edgar Yaeger (1904-1997). The painting depicts a forest of trees with a leafy canopy in the light greens of spring and a myriad of flowers blooming in the undergrowth. It is signed in graphite to the upper center. Presented in white matting and wrapped in acetate.
Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
