Edgar Yaeger Woodblock Print on Paper Interior Space

Item Details

A woodblock print on paper of an interior space by well-listed American artist Edgar Yaeger (1904-1997). The print depicts a domestic interior with a vase of flowers on the corner of a table and a landscape painting hanging on the far wall to the left. To the right is a curtained window where the distant city is partially obscured by the bare branches of a tree. The work is signed in graphite to the lower right margin. Presented in white matting and wrapped in acetate.

Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
