Edgar Yaeger Watercolor Painting Still Life

An original watercolor and graphite painting still-life by well-listed American artist Edgar Yaeger (1904-1997). The painting depicts a tureen and fruit on a table against a teal background. The underdrawing is visible through the paint layers outlining the objects. The paper is signed to the lower right. Presented in white matting and wrapped in acetate.

Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
