A group of eight children’s books, the majority of which are set in the American West. This set includes titles such as a hardcover edition of The Trail to Santa Fe by David Lavender, published by Houghton Mifflin in 1958; a hardcover edition of Five Years of Children’s Books: A Supplement to Realms of Gold, compiled by Bertha E. Mahoney and Elinor Whitney and published by Doubleday, Doran & Co. in 1936; a hardcover copy of A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, published by Cosmopolitan Book Corporation circa 1931; and more. The Trail to Santa Fe and The Great Buffalo Hunt have been autographed to their title pages by the illustrator, Nicholas Eggenhofer. A Tale of Two Cities has been bound in maroon cloth with a paste-down illustration to the front cover and gilded top edges of the pages.

Condition

- moderate edge wear, scratches, and stains throughout; page discoloration; A Tale of Two Cities has slightly loose hinges, minor tanning, and worn corners and spine ends; Five Years of Children’s Books_ has tearing to plastic sleeve, loose hinges, and a bookplate; The Trail to Santa Fe and The Great Buffalo Hunt are price-clipped and inscribed to their interiors; some foxing and staining to The Trail to Santa Fe; _The Great Buffalo Hunt has slightly loose hinges; The Story of Kit Carson is price-clipped; American Folklore and Legend has some interior inscriptions; The Peacock and the Crow has some tearing and an inscription to the plastic sleeve, and a clipped dust jacket; Will Clark is scuffed and stained to the exterior, stamped and inscribed to the interior, and has loose hinges, bowed corners, and bumped spine ends.
