Rene Lalique Brass Fundraising Medal from World War I

A brass fundraising medal from Wold War I by well-listed artist Rene Lalique (French, 1860 – 1945). Depicted on the medal is a woman wearing a sheer garment with her arms reach outwards to the nude child coming towards her. Below the figures, an inscription reads ‘Orphelinat des armées (Army Orphanage)’. A printed inscription below the medal explains these medals were sold in France on Bastille Day to raise money for orphans of the war. Housed behind acrylic under a white mat in an ornate wooden frame.

- minor wear to frame; water stains to paper backing.
