Salvador Dali Artist Proof Color Etching on Paper "The Shepherd"

An artist proof color etching on paper titled The Shepherd from the The Song of Songs of Solomon by well-listed artist Salvador Dali (1904 – 1989). Executed during 1971, this piece depicts three linear figures; one in the background is the shepherd with his flock of sheep; two figures in the foreground appear feminine with breast and long hair. The figure in the center of the composition has roses in place of their face and pubic area. This piece is signed graphite to the lower right. Labeled ‘E.A.’ in graphite to the lower left. Housed behind acrylic in pale toned matting and a gold tone metal frame. Included in the Catalogue Raisonné, “The Official Catalog of the Graphic Works of Salvador Dali” by Albert Field, catalog field 71-17 C on page 71. The back has a wire for hanging and has Certificate of Authenticity label marked ’ Dali, Reclining Nudes, E.A.’.

- major foxing to the print and matting; discoloration to the print due to exposure to light.
