Chinese Shu Lian Ji Folding Fan

A Chinese Shu Lian Ji fan from Hangzhou created during the Republic Period (1912-1949). Featured is a folding fan with black guards and ribs. Depicted on the interior is a scholar sitting beneath a tree with an attendant holding a teapot on a tray nearby. The mark on the right reads ’Hangzhou, Produced by Shu Lian Ji (杭州舒蓮記選制 Hangzhou, Shu lian ji xuan zhi). Shu Lian Ji was a well-known producer in the Republic Period. Marks are visible when backlit on the far left and far right.
