Antique Chinese Wood and Polychrome Gilt Sculpture of Guanyin

An antique wood and polychrome gilt sculpture of Guanyin, the bodhisattva most associated with compassion and an emanation of Avalokiteśvara, seated on a lotus throne. She holds a small vase in her left hand and his right hand is frozen in the karana mudrā, the gesture of removing obstacles. Aside from being gilt, the sculpture was painted with various colors, including orange, green, red, black, and tan for the face. The sculpture is unmarked.

- to fair; wear including small chips, cracks, flaked paint, stains, and discoloration; right hand is chipped; crack down the middle.
