Seated Sino-Tibetan Amitābha Buddha Bronze

Item Details

A Sino-Tibetan gilt bronze depicting Amitābha Buddha. He is seated dhyānāsana pose upon a lotus base. He is depicted wearing bodhisattva garments and five-leaf crown with a serene expression. His hands are held in the dhyāna mudrā, the gesture of meditation. It appears that an object, likely a pātra alms bowl, is now missing. The underside is marked with an etched double-vajra stamp, an indication that this statue was consecrated for use in a Buddhist temple.

Condition

- some wear to patina, traces of gilt remain. Appears to be missing alms bowl.
