An unframed watercolor on paper by mid 20th century Alabama artist Howard Goodson. The painting depicts a robed reclining figure in hues of coral, blue, yellow and black against a field of white. The piece is signed by the artist to the lower right margin.
Goodson was a professor of art at the University of Alabama and died in Tuscaloosa in 1975. His work is represented in the Birmingham Museum, the High Museum in Atlanta, and regional museums across the South. Goodson was selected to represent the state of Alabama in national exhibitions such as the Federation of Arts’ ‘Fifty Painters from Fifty States’.
