Framed Offset Lithographs After John J. Audubon's "Birds of America"

A pair of two mid-century offset lithographs after prints from John J. Audubon’s Birds of America series. Featured are two reproductions of hand-colored engravings by listed New York artist Robert Havell (1793-1878); those in turn were made after original wildlife paintings by highly regarded artist John James Laforest Audubon (1785-1851). Featured are Canada Goose and Carolina Pigeon or Turtle Dove each depicting the named birds in their natural habitat. The images are noted in-plate as being ‘Drawn from Nature’ by Audubon and ‘Engraved, Printed and Coloured’ by Havell. Each print is matted in off-white and presented under glass in metallic painted wooden frames with wire to the back for hanging.
Condition
- to Fair; foxing and discoloration to matting; fading to prints with age; some wear and scratching to frames; paint residue to the corner of one frame; foxing and tears to frames’ paper backings.
