A circa 1870s Charles Field Haviland porcelain dinner set. This ninety-seven piece set includes eighteen dinner plates, twelve salad plates, twelve dessert plates, twelve dessert bowls, twelve small saucers, twelve large saucers, nine square coasters, two oval serving platters, two oval vegetable bowls, a gravy boat with underplate, two rectangular serving dishes, two pedestal serving dishes, and a covered casserole dish. Each item is decorated with gilt flowers, leaves, and butterflies in tones of dark pink, dark teal, and lilac gray; some pieces are marked ‘CFH’ to the underside.
Condition
- moderate wear to gilt trim throughout; several dishes have small chips around their rims; one pedestal dish has a large chip to the rim.
