A reverse painting after an original painting by Guiseppe Castiglioni (1688-1766), a Jesuit who lived in China during the early 18th-century, titled The Qianlong Emperor in Ceremonial Armour on Horseback. This painting depicts the Qianlong Emporer, the sixth emperor of the Qing dynasty, astride a beautiful horse. He wears traditional armor and carries a quiver of arrows with him. The painting is unsigned, and is presented behind glass in a lacquered black frame with a brass decoration on the top of the frame, and hanging wire present to verso.

- light accretion present under glass to upper margin.
