Item Details
A semi-antique hand knotted area rug, attributed to weavers of Tabriz. This piece features a repeating herati pattern in a palette of taupe, indigo, teal blue, mocha and burnt orange. The field is framed by a crenellated band, with bisected floral guard borders and a boteh band in the field colors. The wide primary border features a samovar motif alternating with outlined vine work and flower blossoms in the field colors. It has partially overcast edges and cotton warp fringe. Unmarked. Condition
- to poor; numerous heavily worn spots, several worn away edge areas, some manner of hard bluish-white residue, two rips near an end, two spots that have been patched, parts of the edging are missing or heavily torn; tag from previous owner attached on corner of piece. Professional cleaning only is recommended.
