Contemporary Power Loomed Area Rug After Joan Miró

A contemporary area rug after Catalan artist Joan Miró’s Le Reve, circa 1960s. Miró, (Spanish, 1893–1983), a twentieth century surrealist, was known for his playful and colorful artwork and collages. The power loomed rug features a large bright red, bright yellow, bright green and blue abstract form on a pale yellow field, with a broad ochre-colored stripe to the bottom. It has bound seams to the undersides and is stitched ‘J Miro’ to the binding on the underside.

Condition

- the rug could benefit from cleaning; fraying noted at edges, with repair needed where binding is attached. Fading to blue color element.
