Picasso "Madoura" Ceramic Pitcher

Item Details

A Picasso Madoura ceramic pitcher. This glazed pitcher is an example of a ceramic edition designed by Pablo Picasso between 1947 and 1971. The pitcher is made of white earthenware clay with a design in oxidized paraffin and white enamel. The design features simple dark lines, black dots, and geometric shapes with horned faces, alluding to the artist’s interest in ‘Primitivism’ that emerged in early 20th-century modern art. To the underside, the work is inscribed ‘Edition Picasso’ and painted ‘Edition Picasso Madoura.’
