18th Century Hand Colored English Heraldic Bookplate, Henry Digby

An English hand colored and engraved folio bookplate #501, illustrating the heraldic crest of The Right Honourable Henry Digby, Baron Digby of Sherborne in the County of Dorset from Sir William Segar’s authoritative volumes titled Baronagium Genealogicum (Pedigrees of the English), published in London in 1764. . The crest comprises one fleur de lis on blue shield flanked by monkeys with a crown atop and an ostrich. The motto on the banner below reads ‘Deo non Fortuna’ which translates ‘From God, Not From Mere Luck’.
The engraved heraldi bookplate has been professionally framed under glass with a beige mat having hand drawn gold lines and a marbled border, the carved wood frame is in a slate gray finish.
