A 1959 Stan Galli Painting ‘Fox and Otters’ for Weyerhaeuser Advertising. The painting is a gouache on board that was commissioned by Weyerhaeuser advertising from listed artist Stan Galli (1912 – 2009). The painting depicts a fox watching two otters in a stream. The painting was part of the Weyerhaeuser corporate collection until 2014. There are Weyerhaeuser Company Art Collection labels on back marked “Original Painting no. 174, Accession number 100”. The painting is housed in a wood frame with burnished gold metallic facing.
Stanley Galli was a prolific Californian illustrator whose work appeared in magazine stories and advertisements from the 1940s to the 1970s. In 1981, he was inducted into the Society of Illustrators Hall of Frame adding him to a list of members including Norman Rockwell, Maxfield Parrish, N.C. Wyeth, and Howard Pyle.
