Stan Galli Gouache Painting on Board Illustration for "On the Track of the Man Eater"

A gouache painting on board by listed artist Stan Galli (1912-2009). This painting, produced in 1952 as an illustration for ‘On the Track of the Man Eater’ in True Magazine, depicts a snarling tiger standing next to the body of a dead man. This painting was owned by the Galli family for over fifty years. It is presented matted, under glass, in a black wooden frame. This piece also comes with a framed original tear sheet (offset lithograph) from True Magazine showing Galli’s illustration.

Stanley Galli was a prolific Californian illustrator whose work appeared in magazine stories and advertisements from the 1940s to the 1970s. In 1981, he was inducted into the Society of Illustrators Hall of Frame adding him to a list of members including Norman Rockwell, Maxfield Parrish, N.C. Wyeth, and Howard Pyle.
