Late 19th Century Chinese Carved Wood "Good Fortune" Child Statue
Item Details
A 19th century standing carved wood statue of a young boy. This sculpture features a young child standing upon a lotus base, dressed in simple child’s’ clothing, with the Chinese character meaning ‘good fortune’ (福 fu) to the front of his belly in a cartouche. The statue is further embellished with anklets and bracelets. His hands are clasped in prayer as he looks upward. Signs of original polychromy are still visible.

- paint loss; repaired hands; minor cracks.
