Circa 1840 Ottoman Empire Blunderbuss With Mother of Pearl

A circa 1840 Ottoman Empire blunderbuss with mother of pearl. This gun has a short, walnut stock with a steel flintlock trigger and barrel with a bellmouth. The stock is decorated with scrollwork and other designs including mother of pearl set along the butt of the weapon and near the sights. There is also a patch of pearl near the trigger in the shape of the moon and star from the Ottoman Empire flag that was adopted in full in 1844. The steel barrel has floral and other patterning running from the mouth to the stock, the brown walnut also being accented by white wooden patches around the butt and trigger. This weapon has not been fired or tested.

- some accents missing; slight wear along the entire piece consistent with age.
