An original contemporary Impressionistic oil painting on canvas by Italian-born artist Joseph Baris (Italy/Cincinnati, Ohio; born 1939), titled Manarola: Cinque Terre, Italy, circa 1990. The painting depicts the stunning Cinque Terre town of Manarolo, Italy, tiered along the incredibly formed coastal cliffs. The painting is signed in paint by the artist to the lower right, mounted in a contemporary Arts & Crafts-style seamless wood frame with a distressed gold leaf finish. A hanging wire and artist biography are attached to the verso. Baris immigrated to Cincinnati with his family in 1956. He studied periodically under Roland Huston. Today he is a member of the Cincinnati Art Club and the Mason Art Association. He has spent the last several years studying under reputed Ohio artist Chuck Marshall.
