Hand-Knotted Gabbeh-Style Accent Rug with Elephant Motif

A hand-knotted Gabbeh-style wool accent rug, which could be used as a tapestry, with a primary elephant motif. This rug has a deep grass green central field, framed by pale yellow bands of diamond forms. The ends feature figural elephants motifs in bright yellow, mocha and green, just below a lappet-style band with a tree or branch element in the same colors. End panels feature a teal section with white boteh or figural forms. It has a triple overcast edge with long, hand-tied cotton warp fringe. Unmarked.
