A serigraph on paper by listed American artist Ricardo Morin (Venezuela, b. 1954). Enclosed within black borders, the outlined piece features the depiction of a Rube Goldberg-style machine with a series of complex and sequential stages. Featuring the silhouette of a man pedaling and two other standing figures, situated contiguous to the sophisticated machinery, constructed with air ballons, fans, gears, arrows and narrative reading ‘Heat, sun, air, pressure, steam, water, and electricity’ indicating the linear sequence of events. This work is unsigned by the artist and presents juxtaposed empty descriptive labels situated to the right of the composition. Unframed, awaiting presentation of choice.
Morin immigrated to the United States from Venezuela in 1972. Based in New York and New Jersey, Morin received his B.F.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo and his M.F.A. at Yale University. His work has been exhibited at multiple institutions including the Bronx Museum of the Arts; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York; the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Brooklyn, New York; and many others.
