An original oil painting on canvas by well-listed genre painter Willy Martens (Holland, 1856-1927). The image depicts a woman lowering a swaddled baby into a bassinet while a young child looks on. They are dressed in Dutch laborers’ attire and sit outside of a small house, with a basket and pail beside the woman. The painting is in natural hues of black, brown, green, white, blue, and tan. It is signed in the lower right. The painting is presented in an ornate gold-tone wooden frame.
