Ricardo Morin Sanguine Portrait on Paper "Teenager2"

Item Details

Conte Crayon

An unframed sanguine portrait on paper titled Teenager2 by Venezuelan-born artist Ricardo Morin (b. 1954), dated 1974. This nearly half-body portrait features a three-quarter view of a teenage girl wearing a button blouse and a headband. With a serious facial expression, she stares off to the left. The work is signed and dated in sanguine to the upper left. It remains unframed and unmounted.

Morin immigrated to the United States from Venezuela in 1972. Based in New York and New Jersey, he received his B.F.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo and his M.F.A. at Yale University. His work has been exhibited at multiple institutions including the Bronx Museum of the Arts; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York; the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Brooklyn, New York; and many others. He is most well-known for his non-objective abstract paintings that often exhibit a combination of linear delineation and spontaneous fluidity.
