Original Boris O'Klein Hand Colored Aquatint Etching
Item Details
An original aquatint etching with hand coloring by well listed French artist Boris O’Klein (1887 – 1983), titled ‘Et surtout…pas avant le 3 ème bec de gaz,’ (translated) ‘And above all … not until the 3rd gaslight.’ Boris is best known for his laughable illustrations that most often feature cartoonish depictions of dogs misbehaving. In this highly humorous etching, a nurse dog is preventing a dismayed daschund from going to the bathroom. The print is annotated at the bottom right hand corner in French, and signed in pencil by the artist to the lower right hand corner. The print is presented in a blue wooden frame with a single white mat to edge.
Condition
The print is wavy in the frame and exhibits some mild creasing and wear. The frame is somewhat worn and the glass will benefit from a cleaning.
