Ricardo Morin Abstract Oil Painting on Unstretched Canvas

Item Details

An abstract oil painting on unstretched canvas by contemporary artist Ricardo Morin (Venezuela/New York b. 1954). Executed in 2009, this work features splotchy pigments, gestural brushstrokes, and an amorphous form in earthy tones. White paint is applied over top, forming an overall splatter design. To the verso, the piece is signed by the artist and dated in black ink. The work remains unmounted and unframed.

Morin immigrated to the United States from Venezuela in 1972. Based in New York and New Jersey, Morin received his B.F.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo and his M.F.A. at Yale University. His work has been exhibited at multiple institutions including the Bronx Museum of the Arts; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York; the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Brooklyn, New York; and many others. He is most well-known for his non-objective abstract paintings that often exhibit a combination of linear delineation and spontaneous fluidity.
