A watercolor and wax pencil on paper titled Triangulation 11 from the Triangulation Series by contemporary artist Ricardo Morin (Venezuela / New York; b. 1954), circa 2007. The piece depicts an abstracted scene with blotches of blue, turquoise, yellow and orange tonalities, splattered with bursts of reds. Applied within intertwined non-representational forms overlapped by a predominant black outlined scalene triangle enclosed in a red delineated rectangle situated throughout the composition. Generating a contrasting balance between organic and trigonometric shapes. The work is unsigned by the artist and presented unframed, awaiting presentation of choice.
Morin immigrated to the United States from Venezuela in 1972. Based in New York and New Jersey, Morin received his B.F.A. at the State University of New York at Buffalo and his M.F.A. at Yale University. His work has been exhibited at multiple institutions including the Bronx Museum of the Arts; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York; the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Brooklyn, New York; and many others.
