Item Details
Graphite on paper, Ink Wash
An assortment of three ink and graphite portrait studies on tracing paper by listed American artist Ricardo Morin (Venezuela, b. 1954), created in 2003. Each of the works depicts the same figure in the same pose. Variances are present in the background and the treatment of shadow on the man’s body. All the sketches are signed and dated by the artist in the upper right corner. Presented mounted onto heavy stock paper without frames or hanging hardware.
Morin immigrated to the United States from Venezuela in 1972. Based in New York and New Jersey, Morin received his B.F.A. at the State University of New York at Buffalo and his M.F.A. at Yale University. His work has been exhibited at multiple institutions including the Bronx Museum of the Arts; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York; the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Brooklyn, New York; and many others. He is most well-known for his non-objective abstract paintings that exhibit a combination of linear delineation and fluidity. For more information about the artist, see the link below.
