Hickory White Parquetry Top Desk

Item Details

A Hickory White parquetry top desk. The mixed wood frame features five drawers with two smaller drawers flanking a wider, central drawer. The center drawer interior has a three-part pen tray. The cockbeaded drawers fronts are fitted with brass tone, bail handles. The surface of the desk is inlaid with wood pieces forming a lattice pattern. A small plaque on the desk is marked ‘Hickory White’. It rises on block-and-turned legs joined by a three-quarter, box stretcher and ending in ball feet.

Condition

- one handle is missing; some slight scratches on surface; small amount of scuffing to base; some of the distressing appears to be intentional, i.e. simulated worming.
