Ricardo Morin Mixed Media Painting on Paper

Item Details

A watercolor and gouache painting with oil embellishments on paper by contemporary artist Ricardo Morin (Venezuela / New York; b. 1954), circa 2008. The piece depicts an abstract scene with violets, pinks, reds, and vibrant bursts of oranges, applied within intertwined non-representational forms overlapped by a predominant vivid orange scalene triangle situated diagonally throughout the composition. Generating a contrasting balance between organic and geometrical shapes. The work is signed and dated by the artist in orange paint to the lower right corner. This work is unframed, awaiting presentation of choice.

Morin immigrated to the United States from Venezuela in 1972. Based in New York and New Jersey, Morin received his B.F.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo and his M.F.A. at Yale University. His work has been exhibited at multiple institutions including the Bronx Museum of the Arts; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York; the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Brooklyn, New York; and many others. He is most well-known for his non-objective abstract paintings that exhibit a combination of linear delineation and fluidity. For more information about the artist, see the link below.
