Ricardo Morin Oil Painting on Linen "Triangulation 32"

Item Details

An oil painting on linen titled Triangulation 32 from the Triangulation Series by contemporary artist Ricardo Morin (Venezuela / New York; b. 1954), circa 2008. The piece depicts an abstract scene with blues, beiges, and intermittent bursts of yellow, applied within intertwined non-representational forms overlapped by a predominant bright red triangle situated diagonally to the center of the composition. Generating a contrasting balance between organic and trigonometrical shapes. The work is signed and dated by the artist in yellow paint to the lower right corner. To the verso, the title, artist’s signature, medium, and year are present in black ink to the upper center. This work is unframed, awaiting presentation of choice.

Morin immigrated to the United States from Venezuela in 1972. Based in New York and New Jersey, Morin received his B.F.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo and his M.F.A. at Yale University. His work has been exhibited at multiple institutions including the Bronx Museum of the Arts; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York; the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Brooklyn, New York; and many others. He is most well-known for his non-objective abstract paintings that exhibit a combination of linear delineation and fluidity. For more information about the artist, see the link below.
