Ricardo Morin Oil Painting on Linen Affixed to Board "Still Eight"

Item Details

An oil painting on linen mounted onto wood board titled Still Eight by contemporary artist Ricardo Morin (Venezuela/New York; b. 1954), dated 2010. A part of the Metaphors of Silence series, the work depicts an abstract scene with grays, pinks, and blues. The application of color and the organically symmetric forms are reminiscent of an ink blot. The piece is not signed by the artist. The item is presented without a frame or hanging hardware.

Morin immigrated to the United States from Venezuela in 1972. Based in New York and New Jersey, Morin received his B.F.A. at the State University of New York at Buffalo and his M.F.A. at Yale University. His work has been exhibited at multiple institutions including the Bronx Museum of the Arts; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York; the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Brooklyn, New York; and many others. He is most well-known for his non-objective abstract paintings that exhibit a combination of linear delineation and fluidity. For more information about the artist, see the link below.
