Joe Tilson "Mask of Dionysus" Limited Edition Etching With Aquatint

A signed limited edition etching with aquatint on wove paper titled Mask of Dionysus circa 1984 from the ‘Masks’ series, by English pop artist, Joe Tilson (b.1928). Tilson is best known for his sculptures, paintings, and prints, featuring very intriguing designs, often with bright, vibrant color palettes. This etching depicts a Greek man in the center with a thick beard who is surrounded by a red box and various green splotches, which also features various red lettering along the upper margin reading ‘Dionysus’ in Greek. This piece is pencil signed and dated by the artist in the lower right margin and is numbered 4 out of an edition of 40 to the lower left margin. The print is housed behind plexiglass in a simple metal frame with a wire for hanging to the verso.
