A watercolor painting on paper titled Off Barnegat, 1857 by listed American watercolorist Charles DeWolf Brownell (1822 – 1909), created in 1857. The painting depicts choppy waters with a boat in the distance under a calm sky. Titled and dated pt the verso, ‘Off Barnegat, April 28th, 1857 – 10 A.M. – Looking N.E. – Wind werterly.’ Inscribed in the upper left corner, ‘Nat.’. Presented behind glass in a gilt frame with white matting and a hanging wire to the verso. To the verso is a gallery label. Accompanied by an exhibition catalog from Hirschl & Adler Galleries.
