An original Aliakbar Momeni hand knotted Hamadan wool accent rug. This semi-antique Hamadan rug bears the tag of the Haji Aliakbar Momeni (Iranian, 1926 – 2014) carpet company. It features a small hexagonal pendant in the center of a red lozenge with sawtooth spandrel borders amid a wide-ranging palette of madder red, crimson, ivory, pink, gray, shades of blue, shades of green, coffee, tan, black, and orange. The field is populated with palmettes, boteh, and other symbolic elements. The rug has unresolved borders, including barber-pole and S-hook patterns. Tagged to the reverse, it has very short, soft wool fringe with overcast edges.

- to fair. There is wear to fibers, consistent with semi-antique age and with use; there is some missing fringe with fiber loss to surface and slight fraying. Minor dye bleed noted. Professional cleaning only is recommended.
