Robert Salleroli Mixed Media Assemblage

Item Details

A mixed media assemblage by listed Contemporary artist Robert Salleroli (b. 1933). The piece depicts an enclosed space constructed with multiple intertwined materials and objects including blue linen, a can lid, brown leaves, a plastic glove and metal placed in a balanced composition within gray, blue and brown tonalities. The piece is unsigned by the artist. It is presented behind glass, under a gray linen mat and housed in a silver-tone frame. There are D-rings affixed to the verso.

Salleroli is an interior designer and artist, known for his birch dowel furniture and found object abstract sculptures. He received his education from the Parsons School of Design. After graduating with honors in 1957, Salleroli opened his own design office in 1967. Subsequently experimenting with half-inch diameter birch rods in his furniture design, he turned to abstract sculpture to continue creating complex artistic constructions. Many of Salleroli’s constructions include both found objects and half-inch birch rods. His work can be found in private collections, the Borghi Fine Art Gallery, and Texas A & M University.
