1784-85 "The Poems of Ossian" Translated by James MacPherson in Two Volumes

An antiquarian publication of The Poems of Ossian, featuring volumes I and II, printed in London for W. Strahan and T. Cadell in 1784-1785. Both of these volumes are fully leatherbound with a colored leather block and gilt to the spines. These early Celtic texts are an English translation of the original Gaelic in James MacPherson’s epic poem Ossian.

Condition

- chipping to spine ends; cover of volume I is detached; slight redrot; chipping to pages and foxing; loose hinges; period inscriptions.
