Item Details
A circa 1835 Empire mahogany secretary bookcase. The figured and veneered case features a projecting cornice over two glazed doors with Gothic arches and half-columns opening to a three-shelf interior. Directly below are two blind doors concealing three aligned drawers over a row of valenced pigeonholes. The lower section has a slant-lid writing surface, which folds open to reveal an inkwell holder and a pen tray. The writing surface extends above a stack of three long drawers flanked by colonettes and the secretary rises on turned, urn-form feet.
