William Lowe Ceramic and Brass Cherub Tray
Item Details
A ceramic and brass cherub tray produced by William Lowe. This scalloped coupe bowl tray is painted with a brown leafy band along the edge, colorful floral and foliate designs along the interior, and has a ribbed texture. It is suspended by a pair of winged cherubs in brass, who stand on a swirling brass base, applied to a ceramic box adorned with the same designs as the bowl. The piece stands on short ball feet joined to a brass skirt, carved with a fleur-de-lis and scrolling foliate design. The piece is marked ‘WL 1895’ and has a decal which reads ‘Item No. WAH016’ along the underside.
Condition
- some tarnish to the brass elements; crackle glazing; wear along underside.
