A handwoven Heriz area rug. This Persian rug features a pink and white cartouche central medallion with pendants at either end. Its field is cochineal red, populated with geometric flowers and cornered with stairstep spandrels. The rug features a complex, geometric meandering main border, which is flanked by carnation borders. The palette is cochineal red with pink, graphite, brown, sage, orange, cornsilk, coffee, crimson, and black, with marked areas of abrash. It has short, ivory fringe at either end and overcast edges on the sides. Unmarked.
